Peel Retail & Leisure has announced that Moss, the UK’s leading menswear destination, has selected Gloucester Quays for its next store, opening Saturday 4th May 2024. The signing follows a host of activity at the top 10 UK outlet as it celebrates its 15th anniversary, including the upcoming upsize of Skechers, the international lifestyle and athletic footwear brand.

Making its Gloucester debut is Moss, set to bring decades of tailoring know-how and a history of innovation to meet the changing needs of the menswear customer. Dropping ‘Bros’ from its moniker of old to just Moss, the recent rebrand reflects its position as a more modern and diverse omni-channel retailer that provides a much broader offer than hire and formalwear alone. Central to the offer of the new 1,948 sq ft store will be Moss’ new SS24 collection, featuring softened tailoring and relaxed profiles to match the energy of laid-back summer living. All-new seasonal style solutions will also be available, to meet a growing demand for suiting, be it workwear, weddings, races, proms, or black-tie events. The space will also offer an expert team of local in-store stylists to help new customers discover and enhance their unique style, as well as housing Moss’ Custom Made tailoring service.

Upsizing at the top 10 UK outlet is Skechers, which is set to launch a store 50% bigger than its existing location, opening this June in a 4,500 sq ft unit opposite Moss and Timberland. The new store will add to Skechers’ range of footwear for men, women, and children, created using the brand’s innovative comfort-first technology for both sports and lifestyle activities. Sporting heritage clothing brand, Raging Bull, has also relocated, taking a 1,400 sq ft unit.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, commented: “Gloucester Quays continues to be a hotspot for leading retailers, and the commitment of new brands like Moss combined with investment from existing tenants like Skechers, is testament to its sustained appeal as an established, top 10 outlet. Responding to consumer demand is of the utmost importance, and maintaining a refreshed, diverse mix of retailers plays a significant role in this, something we’ve championed for 15 years and no doubt why Gloucester Quays continues to perform. We look forward to welcoming Moss to the outlet, and seeing the continued success of Skechers and Raging Bull.”

Brian Brick, CEO, at Moss, added: “This store is a celebration of everything Moss stands for today; modernity, diversity and accessibility. We’ve leaned into our 173 years of expertise to land our most modern tailoring offer yet, alongside a range of premium casual styles to form a really considered collection. We’re not just a suit brand that sells some casualwear or vice versa; Moss has transformed into a competitive menswear destination for both occasions and daily wardrobes, and we’re hugely excited to showcase this to customers in a key corner of the south west.”

The flurry of retail activity at Gloucester Quays follows the announcement that the outlet experienced another record period of sales from April 2023 to March 2024, with sales and footfall performance up 11% and 7% respectively. This year the outlet is also celebrating its 15th anniversary, having launched in 2009 as an exciting new regional destination to becoming one of the top 10 UK retail and leisure outlets, and securing the high-performance reputation that it enjoys today.
