Leading property and construction company, Thomas & Adamson (T&A) has announced the promotion of Hamish Paterson to its Senior Leadership Team, in a major move to drive the firm’s growing Building Surveying business.
Based in Glasgow, Paterson will lead an ambitious national growth strategy for the firm’s Building Surveying arm, with a specific focus on service diversification and innovation as modern technology continues to shape the industry.
Paterson brings a wealth of experience to the role, having risen through the ranks at Thomas & Adamson in a career spanning almost 20 years. Joining the firm in 2005 as a Building Surveyor, he progressed to Regional Director in 2021, and most recently Director, where he has played a key role in the growth and success of the business.
The appointment comes as the Building Surveying team kickstart the second phase of a large-scale decarbonisation programme, consisting of tens of thousands of properties for a major local authority, as well as a significant RAAC remediation drive.
Paterson commented: “I am proud to have played a part in the growth of both the business and our Building Surveying division to date and delighted to join the senior leadership team.
“Thomas & Adamson offer a strong multidisciplinary service and I look forward to continuing to develop and grow the building surveying team, as well as supporting the business to continue to evolve and deliver for our clients.”
Senior Partner Alastair Wallace welcomed the appointment and said Paterson will be key in the firm’s national Building Surveying expansion plans, which will see business units in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, come together to form a new, streamlined division.
Wallace added: “Much of the growth we have achieved in recent years has been in Building Surveying and Hamish’s contribution to this, as well as the overall business, has been outstanding. Having joined the business some 20 years ago as a young surveyor, this appointment not only recognises his achievements and dedication, but also our commitment to offering a progressive career platform to our people. To see Hamish develop his career this far is hugely rewarding, and I’ve no doubt he will play a key role in strengthening our senior management team and driving the new growth strategy.”
