Hollywood Bowl is set to take the whole of the upper floor of the former Debenhams store at The Chimes Shopping Centre, in Uxbridge.
The family entertainment venue will join Odeon as the anchors of a new leisure destination at The Chimes taking 38,000 sq ft, when it opens later this year. The letting follows a string of new tenancies agreed by leasing agents Colliers and Lunson Mitchenall.
As well as the letting to Hollywood Bowl, TK Maxx has agreed to take 25,000 sq ft on the lower mall of the former Debenhams, relocating from The Pavilions, and due to open in October, whilst River Island has moved into a larger 9,000 sq ft store over two floors, opening in March.
In addition, Odeon is refurbishing their nine-screen cinema into a state-of-the-art Odeon Luxe, enhancing the shopping centre’s mix of high-quality leisure alongside its established fashion and high street retail mix.
Niall Macdonald Deputy Fund Manager from abrdn added: “The Chimes is already the prime destination for shopping in Uxbridge and the surrounding area. The refurbishment of the cinema to the Luxe format and the addition of Hollywood Bowl’s venue secures it as the number one leisure and shopping destination for the catchment, where people can shop and socialise. The arrival of TK Maxx later in the year and the new River Island store opening in March will strengthen the fashion offer alongside Next, H&M and New Look.”
Dave Williams, Operations Director at Hollywood Bowl said: “This is an exciting time for the team at Hollywood Bowl as we bring 22 new bowling lanes and a nine-hole mini golf course to The Chimes. Hollywood Bowl has built a strong reputation for bringing affordable family experiences to locations across the UK and we are looking forward to welcoming the first bowlers and putters to Uxbridge towards the end of this year.”
Dan Simms, Co-Head of UK Retail Agency at Colliers added: “This exciting news for The Chimes shows that there’s a real confidence in the centre as both a leisure and retail destination. These significant new lettings will provide a real mix of uses to broaden the retail and leisure provision here, which will continue to attract a wide variety of customers to the centre. We currently have several other units under offer, so expect to make more exciting announcements shortly.”
The Chimes is a 440,000 sq ft shopping centre arranged across three floors, located adjacent to Uxbridge Underground station, it has an annual footfall of nine million and 1,500 car parking spaces.
