The Welsh business recovery arm of national accountancy practice Menzies LLP has expanded into the Hodge House office building in Cardiff city centre.
The firm has moved from Sovereign Quay in Cardiff Bay to take a 3,790 sq ft office suite on the fifth floor of Hodge House on a 10-year lease. Landlord Legal & General Investment Management was advised in the transaction by letting agents Fletcher Morgan and Knight Frank. Lambert Smith Hampton represented Menzies.
The eight-storey Hodge House office building in St Mary Street recently underwent a £17 million refurbishment to transform the 110,000 sq ft office building.
The Cardiff office of Menzies provides a full range of business recovery and advisory services to local, national and international clients, on both a corporate and individual basis. John Cullen, partner at Menzies, said: “We were looking for an office space that we could design around the needs of our team, where my colleagues would enjoy coming to work.
“We looked at 15 different Grade A options and only Hodge House ticked all the boxes. Nowhere else had the character, heritage, and space to expand that we could tailor to what we wanted. It was a clear choice.
“Our new Hodge House office may not have big boardrooms but it does have large break out areas – which was vital in our search. It is so important for us as a firm that our people feel comfortable and relaxed in their surroundings, and breakout areas allow us to achieve this. We have already set up Nintendo Switch consoles!
“Another considerable benefit is that Hodge House’s city centre location puts us right next to a significant number of key contacts, whilst allowing us to provide a better service to our current local and national client base, with excellent transportation links”
John James of Fletcher Morgan said: “Menzies is the latest in a line of blue-chip companies which have chosen Hodge House as the base for their future prosperity. They join Ogi, Intelligent Ultrasound, Currencycloud, Bute Energy, and Harrison Clark Rickerby.”
Matt Phillips, head of Knight Frank in Cardiff, added: “Legal & General’s investment has delivered high quality, flexible space in an excellent location that office workers can travel to, and work in, safely. Hodge House has a superb central location opposite the Stadium and, with all the amenities of central Cardiff at hand, it is a very attractive proposition.”
The refurbishment of Hodge House has included the reception, atrium and common areas and provides occupiers with a range of fully-fitted suites from 3,500 sq ft, in addition to large flexible floor plates in the heart of the city centre.
