National DIY chain Wickes has invested in a brand new 25,000 sq ft store in Pennywell Industrial Estate, Sunderland.
Relocating from its previous site on Wessington Way in Sunderland, the new Wickes store now features a large ‘outdoor project centre’ for garden design and landscaping projects, a kitchen and bathroom showroom, as well a service yard for trade customers.
The store is the latest addition to the North East’s popular Pennywell Industrial Estate, which already boasts an Aldi food store and KFC restaurant, and will shortly be welcoming a new drive-through Starbucks and Greggs outlet on the remaining development land.
The new retail development on Pennywell industrial estate is part of a multi-million-pound investment by UK Land Estates, the largest commercial property investment and development company in the North East, which has transformed the previously derelict site.
Brandon Bailey, Project Manager at UK Land Estates, said “The new Wickes store provides a much-needed amenity for the local area and, with a range of services and products on offer, it will undoubtedly prove popular with local residents.
