Tritax Symmetry, Tritax Big Box’s dedicated logistics development company, has secured detailed planning permission for the first phase of Symmetry Park, Rugby, comprising 320,000 sq ft logistics accommodation.
Permission has been granted by Rugby Borough Council for two new logistics / distribution facilities measuring 186,000 sq ft and 134,000 sq ft. The permission also includes all off site highway infrastructure and a new marketing suite dedicated for future occupiers. Both of the units will be built to net zero carbon in construction in line with Tritax Symmetry’s commitment to build all of the new units within its portfolio to this standard.
Comprising 111 acres, Symmetry Park, Rugby has an outline planning permission to deliver up to 2million sq ft of logistics floor space. Situated on the important M45/A45 strategic highway link, the site is located at the heart of the logistics ‘Golden Triangle’ network and is an established key distribution and manufacturing location. The site forms part of the wider South West Rugby Urban Extension which is due to provide up to 5,000 new homes.
Speaking about the milestone, Joseph Skinner, Associate Development Director at Tritax Symmetry, commented: “Rugby is a highly desirable location for distribution and manufacturing companies and, with high quality stock at an all-time low the intention is to speculatively develop the two consented buildings alongside the site wide infrastructure. The upfront delivery of the site-wide strategic infrastructure also allows us to quickly respond to design and build requirements ranging in between 100,000 sq ft up to 1 million sq ft.”
“We will be appointing a contractor in the coming months with construction due to commence this year which means the buildings will be ready to occupy in 2022.”
The project team includes SGP Architects, Framptons acting as planning consultants and Tier Consult and Stantec as infrastructure specialists.
Colliers International, Avison Young and M1 Agency have been appointed as marketing agents for Symmetry Park, Rugby.
