Ibstock-based consulting development engineers, M-EC is bucking the trend by adding to its rapidly developing team with five new appointments, representing an 25% growth in staff.
Bolstering the company’s structural division is Jonathan Martin, an chartered structural engineer with extensive experience in large scale commercial projects and building information modelling (BIM). Jonathan will be working with many of the region’s leading architectural practices to develop M-EC’s structural capabilities in the commercial/industrial sector.
Joining the Geomatics department are head of geomatics, Dan Halstead; photogrammetric surveyor, Ken Hill and graduate civil engineer, Paul Hands. Collectively this trio has amassed over 35 years’ experience and will develop the surveying and mapping services offered by M-EC. With a strong background in land and building surveying, Dan will lead the team and further develop the division’s capabilities. Ken is a professional in aerial photogrammetry, a service not usually available from a civil and structural engineering practice. Paul, currently studying for his Masters to become a chartered civil engineer, provides land surveying expertise as well as working on flood risk and drainage solutions.
Completing the new intake is Matt King, a services and utilities specialist. Matt will work closely with director, Alex Bennett at the pre-planning stage of a development to determine capacity loads and on/off-site diversions together with outlining cost implications, appropriate timescales and supervising on-site work up to the point of connection.
M-EC’s director Eddie Mewies said: “This is obviously a huge step in M-EC’s business development strategy and we welcome all our new employees. It has long been our intention to expand our in-house team and increase the solutions we can offer clients, in essence, by providing a ‘one stop shop’. The calibre of these appointments both strengthens our expertise and affords us greater flexibility, meaning we can be more pro-active which we feel will give us a competitive edge in the future. We want all our recruits to establish long, successful careers at M-EC.”
The appointment of these new team members follows on from M-EC’s recent launch of its in-house apprenticeship scheme, where 18 year old Jake Poulton has just commenced a three year programme as a civil engineering apprentice.
