A city-based security systems specialist is moving lock, stock and barrel to premises on the outskirts of Lincoln – in an expansion move that signals new jobs.
Today, Lincoln commercial agent Banks Long & Co revealed that it has sold a 12,500 sq ft. industrial unit in Whisby Road, in the south of the city, to family-run Lincoln Security Ltd.
The company, which is currently based in the High Street, has built-up a strong and enviable reputation for the quality of its products and services over the past 38 years and has a prestigious client base, which includes local authorities, the NHS and utility companies.
Business Development Manager Peter Corlett said: “We continue to be very busy despite the challenging economic climate. The company has gradually outgrown its current premises, which provides a base for our 41-strong team of office staff and engineers.”
Estate agency Mundys Partner Steven Spivey, who represented Lincoln Security Ltd in the acquisition of its new premises, is now concentrating on the marketing of its current Lincoln base and sister site in Langworth.
Mr Corlett said: “Our Whisby Road unit will give us three times our current space and offer enhanced office space, storage and showroom facilities. We also hope to take on a handful of extra staff in the months following our move.”
Lincoln Security Ltd, which was founded in 1974 by Directors Stephen and Richard Farrar, serves the domestic and commercial markets across the UK which rely on its knowledge and expertise in the supply, installation and maintenance of bespoke security solutions.
“The move will allow us to fulfil our growth and expansion plans for our UK-wide customer base,” added Mr Corlett.
It will offer the firm easier access to the wider UK, thanks to being based in a part of Lincoln where the road network is being enhanced in line with Siemens’ investment in its Teal Park site.
Banks Long & Co Director William Wall said: “This sale emphasises the strength of the Lincoln industrial sector, at a time when larger nearby cities like Nottingham and Sheffield are experiencing stagnation.
“We continue to generate a consistently high level of enquiries when bringing good quality, modern units to the market, particularly freehold.
“Lincoln has been able to promote an increasing number of good news stories over the last few months, whether these relate to infrastructure improvements, the University of Lincoln’s expansion, the introduction of new national retail/restaurant brands in the city or employment generation, such as through Lincoln Security’s expansion.”
