Caerphilly businesses will soon be able hear the views of a member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England on the state of the UK economy.
Ian McCafferty will be addressing the Caerphilly Business Forum with his off the record presentation, “The General Economic Outlook”, on Wednesday 24th October at 8am in the Bryn Meadows Golf, Health and Spa, Maesycwmmer.
Tony Sheehan, Chair of the Caerphilly Business Forum, said: “As well as being a great chance to hear from one of Britain’s most influential financial figures first hand, attendees will also be able to network with other businesses following the event.”
Ian McCafferty joined the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) at the Bank of England in September 2012. Prior to his appointment he worked as Chief Economic Adviser to the CBI and Head of Macroeconomics at BP. He also spent ten years in the City, as Chief International Economist for Natwest Markets and Baring Securities.
The MPC’s remit is to set monetary policy in order to meet the Government’s inflation target of 2%, based on the Consumer Prices Index.
