The last remaining unit at a Walsall industrial estate has been sold in a deal brokered by the Birmingham office of DTZ.
Shaylor Developments’ Optical Park scheme in Aldridge is now fully occupied.
Unit 7, which consists of 4,508 sq ft of industrial space, has been sold to electrical and mechanical contractors, GEC Ltd for £185,000. The company already owns unit 6 at the park and will be using the additional space to expand its operations.
John Sambrooks, Associate Director at DTZ in Birmingham, commented: “This has been a very successful scheme for Shaylor Developments. The quality of accommodation on offer, together with strong transport links, meant the estate was a popular choice for many local occupiers. The scheme has shown Shaylor’s ability to offer both new and good quality refurbished units at affordable prices.”
Optical Park is located in the well established Middlemore Lane commercial area of Aldridge with easy access to Walsall town centre and the national motorway network. In total, the estate comprises eight refurbished production and distribution units. Other occupiers include, McDowall Air Conditioning (UK) Ltd, Approved Contracts and AJ Baker (Grinding) Ltd.
Martin Baxter at Shaylor Group commented: “We are delighted to see the final unit sold and pleased that it has gone to an existing occupier who has been able to expand its business on the estate.”
Malcolm Hughes, Director at GEC Ltd said: “We had been looking for suitable premises as part of our expansion plans since 2007 so when unit 6 at Optical Park became available we were pleased to be in a position to keep our workforce local. The possibility that unit 7 may also become available, made a move to the estate a viable proposition and enabled us to consolidate our manufacturing facility and keep our business in Aldridge.”
